POOL LOCKER THEFT

Counncillor Davis is urging Dudley Council to conduct an inquiry into security at Coseley Swimming Baths after thieves stole car keys from changing room lockers. The Council did plan to spend £20000 on upgrades to the lockers, but has since lowered its projected spend on the problem.

LILLIAN - 100 years young!

Many congratulations to Coseley born Lillian Bennett, who celebrated her 100th birthday last Wednesday (22nd June). Lillian attended Mount Pleasant School and married in 1933, going on to celebrate her Golden Wedding Anniversary and beyond. She is now a resident at the Beacon Centre for the Blind.

Dudley Council Plus

Dudley Council has extended the hours in which it can be contacted. From May 23rd 2005 the "Dudley Council Plus" initiative will mean that Castle STreet in Dudley will be open from 8am till 7.30pm weekdays, and 9am till noon on Saturdays. WOODSETTON Green Belt safe

An application to convert the tree-lined open land in Bourne Street into a medical centre car park has been refused by the Council's development control committee. Councillor Margaret Wilson told the Dudley News that she was delighted and hoped that this small remaining piece of green belt would now be left alone.

CLOSE SHAVE for John

Well done to sixteen year old Coseley lad John Newell, who will soon be having his head shaved to raise money for the tsunami appeal. The hair raising event will be at the Hillyfields pub in Parkes Hall Road Woodsetton, at 8pm on January 22nd 2005, during a fund raising disco.

The license has already been granted for the performance, which will take place at Aldridge Theatre in October 2005. New Police Boss for Dudley North

Dudley North has a new police commander. Chief Supt. Dennis Hodson is retiring to take over as director of Dudley Community Partnership. His replacement is Superindendent Richard Green who been promoted from his current position in Harborne to take over from Mr Hodson - starting today.

Dudley Library Kids Survey

Starting on Monday October 4th 2004 children in Dudley, Dudley Wood, Gornal and Coseley will be able to take part in a survey to tell the Council what they think of their local library.

MP says yes to ID's

Dudley North MP Ross Cranston has been putting the case for identity cards. He says that constituents have been complaining about illegal workers and that identity cards could help to combat the problem. Mr. Cranston also drew attention to the possibility that illegal workers were vulnerable and could be exploited.
