Jazzin’ it up at Dudley Castle

Dudley Castle will be transformed into a music lovers paradise on Friday 25th June when it plays host to an internationally acclaimed jazz artist.

As part of Dudley Council’s Borough Festival, Dudley Performing Arts have commissioned legendary jazz trumpet player Bobby Shew to entertain the masses at a unique open-air concert in the grounds of Dudley Castle. Bobby, who hails from the USA, will be on stage from 7.30pm. He will be accompanied by three live bands, including young jazz musicians from the West Midlands area.

The musician will also be giving a master class to selected students from Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell and Stafford.

Cindy Peek, Assistant Director for Education and Lifelong Learning & Community Education, Dudley Council, said:

"It’s a privilege to welcome a musician, as highly thought of as Bobby Shew, to the borough. Bobby has inspired many children, teachers and professional musicians the world over with his approach to music and his phenomenal playing. Students involved in the performer’s master class will undoubtedly learn a lot from his teachings and experience."

Tickets for the event costs £6 (£4 for concessions) or £8 (£6 for concessions) for a season ticket which gives you access to all Summer Celebration events. To book your ticket, telephone Dudley Performing Arts on 01384 813865 or visit Dudley Performing Art’s website at www.edu.dudley.gov.uk/music/fest2004 for more information.
