Last Respects to Mick Owen

Popular Gornal Accountant Mick Owen, who sadly died just before Christmas, was laid to rest in Gornal Crematorium last Monday (12th).

A well attended congregation, peppered with friends, colleagues and customers, filed in to the sound of one of Mick's favourite songs, 'Nights in White Satin', and heard the vicar speak of a man whose life revolved around his work. Born in Wombourne, but a Gornalite for more than twenty years, Mick was one of four children. A keen Wolves fan, he liked to keep up with sports news as well as current affairs, but was most at home in his office, working away - the light in his Abbey Street premises often burning away late into the night.

Mick had not been very well for a couple of years, but all the same his death at the early age of 55 has shocked us all. We'll miss him.
