ALLEN ( Dorothy) - can you help?
Yampy first published the request below back in 2005, but we have recently heard from Michelle and the trail is still cold. Any help gratefully received!
Michelle Engelse is from the Netherlands, and is appealing for Yampy Sedgley readers to help her to locate Dorothy Allen, who was a friend of her 80 year old grandfather - almost sixty years ago.
Willem Willemsen (known as William over here) is from Arnhem and was serving as a soldier in Wolverhampton in 1945/46. late 1945. He met Dorothy in Sedgley at a dance. Dorothy was a few years younger then Willem, probably 18 or 19 at that time. She lived at 38 Greenway, Sedgley - right by the Ex-Servicemen's Club in the Walk (come on you senior club members, someone should be able to help here!).
Later, William was posted to Indonesia and heard that Dorothy was married with a baby girl. Unfortunately, Willem does not remember Dorothy's husband's surname, so we have to look for her based on maiden name.
Yampy was informed at one stage that Dorothy was now living in Droitwich, but we have not been able to verify this.
