DANCEZONECHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS | Congratulations to Lewis Gardner, Ria Dhandu, Mary Flavell and Chantelle Steel, prize winners at the recent UK Dance Championships in Stoke. The twinkle toed kids are pupils of Dancezone, which holds classes at the St. Chad's Catholic Club in High Holborn.

REBECCA'S DANCE TRIUMPH | Sedgley schoolgirl Rebecca Philips has won two prizes in the recent Yorkshire Open dance competition. Rebecca, aged 10, who attends Cotwall End School, won the Fast Solo category abd then partnered Rachel Walker to carry off the Rock n Roll Pairs trophy.

Sedgley Dog Theft Plea | Have you seen Sasha the Staffordshire Bull Terrier? Black and white, with brown patches and a feint pink scar on her tummy, she was stolen from a house in Beacon Lane at about 7.30pm on Wednesday May 25th. Dudley Council Plus | Dudley Council has extended the hours in which it can be contacted.
From May 23rd 2005 the "Dudley Council Plus" initiative will mean that Castle STreet in Dudley will be open from 8am till 7.30pm weekdays, and 9am till noon on Saturdays.

Do you have the brass nerve? | Anne Troman from Black Country dramatic group Circle Players has contacted Yampy to appeal for a local brass band to join in the fun of a production of "Brassed Off".
The license has already been granted for the performance, which will take place at Aldridge Theatre in October 2005.

New Police Boss for Dudley North | Dudley North has a new police commander. Chief Supt. Dennis Hodson is retiring to take over as director of Dudley Community Partnership. His replacement is Superindendent Richard Green who been promoted from his current position in Harborne to take over from Mr Hodson - starting today.

Dudley Library Kids Survey | Starting on Monday October 4th 2004 children in Dudley, Dudley Wood, Gornal and Coseley will be able to take part in a survey to tell the Council what they think of their local library.

Council Recommends New Phone Mast | Despite a 900-signature petition and 53 letters of objection, Dudley Council are recommending that another mobile phone mast is placed on the roof of the BT Telephone Exchange in Turls Street.
Already Hutchinson 3G and Orange have antennae at the site, which is adjacent to Dormston School, but now O2 is set to add its equipment.
Locals are concerned about alleged health risks to school pupils, and also believe that the masts are unsightly.
But according to a Dudley News report, Council officer Caroline Maryan says that "it is considered in this case the need to develop the site outweighs the potential impact."

MP says yes to ID's | Dudley North MP Ross Cranston has been putting the case for identity cards. He says that constituents have been complaining about illegal workers and that identity cards could help to combat the problem. Mr. Cranston also drew attention to the possibility that illegal workers were vulnerable and could be exploited.

Arts Group Grant | Sedgley's new arts initiative for the over 50's ahs won a £700 grant from DOSTI to pay for equipment and paints.
