Invest in the Black Country!

Ross Cranston, MP for Dudley North, today pledged his support for the Black Country by investing in the Black Country Reinvestment Society.

Ross commented:

“The Black Country Reinvestment Society provides a unique and valuable role in our community. It exists as a non profit business that aims to provide loans to Social Enterprises and other organisations in the social economy. Social Enterprises are businesses with a primarily social objective. They aim to invest in organisations that make valuable contributions to the economic regeneration of our communities and the overall wealth of the economy. Unfortunately, these organisations, which offer so much for the community, are often disadvantaged in their search for financial aid because the social aspect of their plans is seen as high risk. The Black Country Reinvestment Society eliminates this problem by actively searching for socially beneficial programmes in need of financial security.

“My investment is helping to fund programmes such as the development of a furniture recycling centre, nursery facilities for young children and environmental improvements to houses. I am especially pleased with the results of the reinvestment society in Dudley, where great projects like the Quality Print Plus business have been able to upgrade their equipment and expand their services. Quality Print Plus was set up in 1997 as a social enterprise which provides not only printing services, but also training and a working environment for people with disabilities. It is projects like these through which the Reinvestment Society can make a real difference.”

The Chief Executive of the Society, Paul Kalinauckas, said: “By investing in the Black Country Reinvestment Society, Ross is helping to ensure that more value driven businesses can develop. They in turn will invest in the community – it is a win-win situation. I urge all those who can to support the development of social enterprises by becoming a member of the Society. Shares can be bought from £250 to £20,000, and provide a 5% tax relief on your investment for each of the five following years.

The society can be contacted at: Black Country Reinvestment Society, Turner House, Wren’s Nest Road, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 3RU.
