Christmas Magic at Winter Wonderland

Himley Hall and Park near Dudley looks forward to welcoming young and old for a Winter Wonderland weekend to remember. The special festive event runs from December 12 to 14.

The magic of Christmas arrives at the park on Friday 12 December with an illuminated parade featuring 15 colourful characters at 7pm. Santa will travel on his magical sleigh accompanied by his elf helpers, a giant snowman, the Crazy Bears, the genie from Aladdin and Popsy Bear. By 7.30pm he’ll be settled in to his grotto where children can visit him and make a special Christmas wish. Later on in the evening there will be a festive firework display. Throughout the weekend children will be able to enjoy fairground rides, including a toy land train and carousel roundabout. There will also be an ice rink, face painting, hot festive food and drink, as well as winter walks to Baggeridge Country Park organised by park rangers.

Inside the historic hall there will be a festive craft fair where visitors can do some last minute Christmas shopping. There’ll be a chance to pick up some unusual gifts for all the family, with many of the items made in the midlands.

The weekend is being staged by Dudley Council and South Staffordshire Council and organisers are expecting an excellent turnout. Sally Piazzalunga, Principal Leisure Officer at Dudley Council, explained:

"We know from the phone calls we’ve been taking that people are really looking forwards to getting in to the Christmas spirit at the Winter Wonderland. Himley Hall and Park is a fabulous venue for the event and makes for a magical setting. We’ve really enjoyed planning the weekend with our colleagues at South Staffordshire and are already looking forward to next year."

Gates to Winter Wonderland open at 6pm on Friday 12 December. The event runs from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December. Admission to Himley Hall and Park is free. Santa’s grotto costs £3.50 (includes a Christmas gift) and ice skating is £2.00. Car parking is £3.00 per car.
