Summer XS at Himley Hall

Local music fans will be flocking to Himley Hall on Sunday 4th July to welcome the return of Summer XS.

Gates open at 12noon as Beacon FM and Wyvern FM bring some of today’s finest stars to the park, including for the second year running, teenage boy band Blazin’ Squad.

A great line-up is in-store with more pop favourites Girls Aloud, McFly, Phixx, Natasha Bedingfield and Take That’s boy wonder Mark Owen.

We're particularly looking forward to seeing the Black Country’s very own Mark Rhodes along with singing pal Sam Nixon. We know that he's not a Dudley chap but the Black Country in general rarely grabs the headlines so Yampy supported him all the way through the Pop Idol process and now hosts his website at www.markrhodes.me.uk, which - thanks to Mark's sister Sue - is crammed full of exclusive family photos like the one above.

Gates open for Summer XS at 12noon. For tickets call 08708 400400.

If your musical tastes stretch a little farther back in time you may also be interested in the Dancing in the Park event the previous evening (Saturday 3rd July 2004), again at Himley Hall.

The concert starts at 8pm and Dudley’s finest musicians will perform a variety of hits including ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ by the legendary Queen, ‘September’ by Earth Wind and Fire and ‘Freedom’ by 80’s sensation Wham. Other classics from Duran Duran and Stevie Wonder are on the play list. The concert also includes the sounds of Beyonce, Robbie Williams and Justin Timberlake.

In a spectacular finale a fabulous firework display will light up the sky over the hall and park. For tickets for Dancing in the Park call the visitor information centre on 01384 812812.
